B.S. Mathematics, Education Option
The Math-Ed Program is an option program, administered by the Department of Mathematics. The five-year program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics at the end of four years and a Masters of Arts in Teaching and Learning at the end of the fifth year. The Program is designed to prepare future teachers of mathematics in secondary grades 6 - 12. Upon successful completion of the Program, a student may apply to Virginia State Department of Education for licensure to teach secondary mathematics in the state of Virginia. The program is open to all students admitted into the Department of Mathematics. To complete the degree requirements of the Math - Ed Program, the student must satisfy the progress towards degree requirements listed below. Also a 2.70 GPA overall is required for admission to the Center for Teacher Education graduate program by the end of the senior year.
