Profile
Jay Wilkins, Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning, teaches graduate-level mathematics and mathematics education courses for pre- and in-service teachers and advises masters and doctoral students in mathematics education. He is the program leader of the K-8 Mathematics Specialist program. Wilkins currently serves on the executive board of the Virginia Council of Teacher of Mathematics. Wilkins' research interest include: understanding and measuring quantitative literacy, educational opportunity, mathematical beliefs and attitudes, and the teaching of probability and statistics. His recent work has been published in the Journal for Research in Mathematic Education, Journal of Mathematics Teacher Education, Teaching Children Mathematics, and Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School.
