Research

Jay Wilkins, Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning, teaches graduate-level mathematics and mathematics education courses for pre- and in-service teachers and advises masters and doctoral students in mathematics education. He is the program leader of the K-8 Mathematics Specialist program. Wilkins' research interest include: understanding and measuring quantitative literacy, educational opportunity, mathematical beliefs and attitudes, and the  teaching and learning of probability and statistics. His recent work has been published in the Journal for Research in Mathematic Education, Journal of Mathematical Behavior, Journal of Mathematics Teacher Education, Educational and Psychological Measurement, Teaching Children Mathematics, and Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School.
