Professor Norton researches students' mathematical development using teaching experiments, along with quantitative methods. He is especially interested in students' mathematical conjectures formed in the context of learning fractions, algebra, and geometry. He teaches content courses for secondary school teachers with a focus on mathematical processes important to mathematical development, including conjecturing.
